FOR 10 YEARS, KITSAP’S GREAT Give has shown great hearts. A small not-for-profit group understands its community’s needs because its volunteers live there and have the passion to work to solve local problems. There are so many groups like this in this county that you probably haven’t heard of them all. But because of work by the Kitsap Community Foundation and the United Way of Kitsap County, you can learn more about some. This year, on April 16, more than 350 non-profits are participating in the Great Give, a single day of giving to these local groups that strive to make Kitsap a better place. Find a non-profit whose cause interests you, see what they’re doing, learn how you can help, and support them financially by going to kitsapgreatgive.org. I’ve found that non-profits prefer to be busy solving problems instead of asking for money. This annual community movement of generosity, which has resulted in more than $15 million in community support since 2014, helps them… and your community. // LORI BIER
