So, I don’t know if you heard, Green Day just put out a new album. I remember seeing something about it on the news. Also, if you missed it, Blink 182 got together for a new album shortly before that. And, just before that, bremerton’s own Mxpx put out a new record. Blink is currently on tour in australia and new zealand thru march. Green Day is set for a stadium tour with Rancid and Smashing Pumpkins. And the Mxpx dudes have been on a tear recently bouncing around to sets of sold-out shows throughout the states along with a quick trip to indonesia last fall.
Another, lesser-known band that came up on the heels of that bygone-but-now-blowing-up era is playing in Bremerton this weekend.
Amber Pacific is an early 2000’s pop punk band from Federal Way that put out albums on Victory and Hopeless Records back in the day. They also recorded an album in Bremerton that featured Mike Herrera on bass. Way back when the band formed in high school they would play shows at Hell’s Kitchen in tacoma. The promoter from that now long-shuttered venue is currently booking shows for the Tracyton Movie House and reached out to see if Amber Pacific would come to bremerton. The band’s chief songwriter Will Nutter, who’s now a pilot for his day job, says they’ve been working on new music, maybe a new album in the works, and playing sporadic shows. “Not necessarily to jump on the wave of what’s happening in our genre of music,” he said. “But just to get back in front of people.” // BILL MAN
