~’Bramble Blind’ | Print: Lynn Brofsky~ The Roby King Galleries’ annual Printmakers’ Invitational is — once again this year — an awesome amalgamation of fine art printmaking… Hanging through Oct. 31 at 176 Winslow Way, just up from the ferry on the Island, the show features the intricate Lynn Brofsky (image above), the cryptic Stephen MacFarlane and a handful of others including Bainbridge Island printmaking professor Wendy Orville, and William and Robert Schlegel, among others…. This Lynn Brofsky image alone — which hangs in the front window of the Roby King — made it worth the trip for me. Now,
Disbanded Port Orchard cow-punks The Swinos slogged out an updated playlist the other day over the myspace… which I enjoyed immensely, listening to over and over and over, for the first time in a long time. Last night (Oct. 17), the “bonafide, evil, motherfucking one mand band” worked a heavy crowd into a mosh-pitting, fist-pumping frenzy under the wicked red lights of Bremerton’s Winterland. He brought his demonic sonics to town on tour with the incredible .357 String Band — joining local luminary James Hunnicutt for the evening. “One of the best shows of the year,” the Winterland heralded. ~Vote Moen. | Photo: Rudis Puella~ After an already freakish week in local politics — in which the Bremerton Patriot reported that Deborah Jackson, an upstart write-in candidate for Bremerton Mayor, was wanted for second-degree forgery in Oklahoma — this week, The North Kitsap Herald reports: Local punker Mike Moen (the bespectacled frontman and frotteur of the Bremerton band Neutralboy) has also put his hat in the ring as a write-in candidate. We’ll see what a background check turns up on that one. Meanwhile, the mainstream candidates — Patty Lent and Will Maupin — ready for a cocktail-drenched rager of a
